For generations, the men and women of Piercy Volunteer Fire Department have stood ready — not for pay, but for the people who call this corner of the redwoods home.
Piercy Volunteer Fire Department wasn't founded by mandate or municipal code — it was born from the simple, fierce conviction that the people who live here owe it to each other to show up when it matters most.
Located along California State Route 271 in the heart of Humboldt County, our department serves the unincorporated community of Piercy and the surrounding rural areas. When emergencies strike — whether a structure fire on a remote ridge, a vehicle accident on a winding road, or a medical call in the dead of night — it is our volunteers who answer.
Every member of this department holds another job, raises a family, and lives the life they are sworn to protect. They train on their days off. They maintain equipment in their spare time. They stand ready, not for compensation, but because this is their home, and these are their neighbors.
Every firefighter serves without pay, dedicating their time and lives to protect ours.
Specialized in responding to the unique challenges of remote, forested, and rural terrain.
We live here too. Our families are your families. That's what drives us.
From structure fires to search and rescue, our trained volunteers are prepared to respond to the full spectrum of emergencies that threaten our rural Humboldt County community.
Full-spectrum structural firefighting for homes, outbuildings, and commercial structures throughout the Piercy area and surrounding Humboldt County communities.
Specialized wildland fire suppression and prevention, critical in our forested region where summer dry conditions create elevated fire risk across vast stretches of rural terrain.
First response medical care delivered by trained volunteer EMTs, bridging the critical gap until advanced medical services can reach our remote service area.
Coordinated search and rescue operations across the rugged terrain of Humboldt County, from forested ridges to river valleys and remote rural roads.
Proactive fire safety inspections, permit reviews, and prevention outreach to reduce risk before emergencies ever occur in our wildfire-prone region.
Free fire safety workshops, school presentations, and disaster preparedness training for residents, schools, and community organizations across our service area.
The Piercy Volunteer Fire Department runs on the commitment of people who believe that showing up for your community isn't optional — it's who you are.
Whether you're interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter, supporting our operations through donations, or simply learning how to keep your family safer, there is a place for you here. We are always looking for dedicated individuals who want to make a tangible difference in the lives of their neighbors.
